Meeting at the end of Peace Week.

A morning of hope, reflection, and encounter

In a time when war, polarization, and unrest reach us daily through the media, the longing for peace grows—not only far away, but also close by, in our own surroundings and in our hearts. Therefore, you are warmly welcome to the Peace Celebration on Sunday, September 27, at 10:00 AM in the Roman Catholic Church of Saint Francis Xavier at Kwakerspad 3 in Enkhuizen.

The celebration will be led by Gérard Urselmann. The youth choir Reaching Hand will provide musical accompaniment, creating an atmosphere of hope and connectedness with contemporary songs. The special guest is Dr. Manuela Kalsky, theologian, author, and an inspiring voice regarding encounters between people of different worldviews and cultures. She is a Professor by Special Appointment on the Karen Armstrong Chair in Religion, Values and Social Transformations at the University for Humanistic Studies in Utrecht. As the founder of Nieuw Wij (nieuwwij.nl), she has dedicated herself for years to a society in which differences do not divide, but can instead connect. In her lecture, she will address the question of how we can build peace, trust, and humanity, especially in these times.

This celebration has a different format from a usual service led by a lay minister. Prayers, poems, music, silence, and Manuela’s reading combine to form a meaningful whole. A full hour to find stillness, gain inspiration, and find new courage. Afterwards, there is ample opportunity to meet one another over a cup of coffee, tea, or soft drink with a treat. There is also an opportunity to chat with Manuela Kalsky about her reading. Everyone is warmly welcome. Whether you regularly attend church or simply feel the need for a moment of reflection and fellowship, your presence is greatly appreciated. Peace begins where people meet one another on a human level.
