From Monday, August 3 to Sunday, August 9, Maritime Week takes place at the Zuiderzee Museum. Admire the many historic fishing vessels in the museum harbor, listen to musical seafaring tales, and participate in one of the maritime activities. Do you love shanty music? Throughout the week, various shanty choirs will perform their sea music. You can find them at different locations in the Zuiderzee Village.

Sail along!

Sail along on a ship, admire the historic vessels in the harbor, smell the fresh fish, and shiver at rugged sailors’ tales. Music from home and abroad resounds daily, with performances by Rumor di Mare, LocTup Together, and Vrijstatig Volkje, among others. Shanty choirs, musicians, and bands bring the maritime past to life with sea songs and atmospheric live performances. On August 8 and 9, let yourself be surprised by musical artist Nautilus one-man band and his Jules Verne-style machine.

Fish auction in the Marker harbor

New to this edition of Maritime Week is the fish auction in Marker Harbour on August 8 and 9. Fishermen bring their catch to the auction, where visitors can watch and bid. The price is determined on the spot by supply and demand, after which the fish is prepared so that it can be eaten on the spot. The proceeds from the fish auction go to the Botter Preservation Association, which keeps the sailing heritage alive.
