Building a ship in a bottle is a fascinating hobby. Have you ever wondered how such a ship ends up inside that bottle? The ship seems far too big to have fit through that narrow bottleneck, but there is nothing special about the bottle to be seen. So how does it happen??? It is a question that visitors to the Ship in a Bottle Museum in Enkhuizen almost always ask.

The museum has therefore invited a number of ship-in-a-bottle builders. During the summer holidays, they will be present at the museum on Saturdays to explain the process and to demonstrate how a ship is “bottled.”

Ship-in-a-bottle builders love to talk about their hobby. They usually start simply with a single-masted ship, and then the creations become increasingly complex. The builders can talk about this with enthusiasm.
