Naviduct Krabbersgat
Near Enkhuizen lies the world’s first naviduct: an aqueduct, but with a lock in the waterway. This means you can drive under a lock with your bicycle or car. In this way, the traffic congestion problem for both cars and ships is eliminated. The road runs under the water at a depth of 10.8 m below Amsterdam Ordnance Datum (NAP). Naviduct Krabbersgat was opened in 2003 and connects the IJsselmeer with the Markermeer.
