Come and marvel at the Zuiderzee Museum from December 16, 2023 through January 7, 2024, during the fifth edition of Zuiderzeelicht: the Water Foal of Volendam. Stroll through the atmospherically lit streets of the Outdoor Museum in the evening and let yourself be carried away by the gripping story of a wayward girl who would change Volendam forever. Presenter Kees Tol takes you back in time, way before fishing, costumes and music. Through light, image and sound, the legend about Volendam’s water colt comes to life bit by bit. Come and marvel in the dark!

During Fairy Tale Winterland, the entire park is transformed into warm winter atmospheres. Upon entering the park there is a Christmas tree no less than 15 meters high. The many thousands of mood lights and hundreds of lanterns provide a fairy-like spectacle.

Enkhuizer Light Days

From mid-December to early January, ‘t Suud in Enkhuizen is festively decorated and attractively illuminated. In the afternoon at four o’clock the candles and Christmas lights are lit in one of the most beautiful neighborhoods of Enkhuizen. Enjoy the magical atmosphere and imagine yourself in a living Christmas card.

On Sundays December 17 and 24 you can expect extra festive activities. The program for these two Evenings of Light will be presented on the Enkhuizen by Candlelight website.

Christmas begins in Enkhuizen on Friday, December 15 and Saturday, December 16 in the Westerkerk! Youth choir Reaching Hand and the Royal Municipal Music Corps (KSM) will come together to usher in Christmas musically.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Zuiderzee Museum. The Museum is celebrating with all kinds of festive activities and with a surprising anniversary exhibition about making grand plans for and building a unique open-air museum.
