We are closing out the year at the Nieuwe Doelen with a fantastic afternoon packed with music. So, get ready for a delightful afternoon full of jazz. Starting with local talents father and son De Wit playing together with regular Hans Mantel, while Bente Jans adds her vocals to the mix. They bring the music of jazz legend and saxophonist Sidney Bechet to life! Enjoy the music and delicious juices, and imagine yourself back in the 50s, when Bechet played in Paris.

The afternoon is closed by the headliner: the French dynamite band, Mama Shakers. The five young musicians breathe new life into popular American music from the 1920s and 1930s with respect and energy. Band nickname: ‘The Young Wilds from Paris’, a title befitting their spirited Swedish frontwoman, trumpeter Angela Strandberg. She formed the band in Paris with four other members. They give music from the Roaring Twenties a youthful touch and pay tribute to the forgotten music of the cotton fields, dubious bars in Louisiana, and remote towns in Tennessee. Their unique style, a mix of swing and blues, combines elements of jugband orchestras and New Orleans music.
