Hemony carillon

The wealth in the Golden Age enabled the Municipality of Enkhuizen to purchase a precious Hemony carillon twice. In 1648 the Zuider- or Sint Pancrastoren got a Hemony carillon. The Drommedaris was raised in 1648 and made suitable for the placement of the second Hemony carillon in 1677. François and Pieter Hemony were famous bell founders. They were the first to be able to compose a melodious clock series. Amsterdam, Utrecht and Enkhuizen are the only cities in the world where one can find several of these historically valuable chimes.
