HOMMAGE pays a fiery tribute to the classic swing music of the Roaring Twenties, Dirty Thirties, and Remarkable Forties. Think of the era of Sidney Bechet, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, and Fats Waller. What’s especially surprising is their fresh, contemporary energy, guaranteeing a swinging afternoon.
With their relaxed New Orleans revival style and recognizable “New Orleans feel,” HOMMAGE breathes life into the old jazz you can still hear on the streets of New Orleans today. The rhythm section bounces from the first to the last note, while the horns deliver recognizable melodies, steaming solos, and stirring vocals.
This time, HOMMAGE’s tribute extends beyond the music. On May 5th, the band will transport the audience to the swinging sound of the years surrounding World War II, with songs that were ubiquitous back then and have lost none of their charm. The lineup features well-known Enkhuizen musicians, including drummer Bob Leijen, bassist Jaap de Wit, guitarist Hans Mantel, and saxophonist Jaap de Wit Jr. Along with singer Bente Jans, they perform classics like Moonlight Serenade, We’ll Meet Again, and Bei Mir Bist Du Schön. The result is an atmospheric and recognizable program where you can relax and enjoy live music and an energetic show.
