That’s what Bowie bassist Tim Lefebvre said when he talked about Nathalie Schaap. With exactly that sound, a combination of vocals and double bass, Nathalie Schaap is currently conquering the Dutch stages.

She graduated from the conservatory with a 9.5 and has since won several prizes, including a prize at the Princess Christina Jazz Competition (2016), the Friends Prize ArtEZ (2018), the title Cultuurtalent Overijssel (2022) and a final place at the Conservatory Talent Award(2018). She could already sing in her cradle. She was mainly fed classical music, and during her training as a professional musician, jazz and pop took over. Here she also discovered the double bass, which bridged the genres she grew up with. Together with singing, this instrument formed the basis for her promising career, and for her own band, NATHALÃE. The first EP ‘Dream along’ was recently released. Nathalie has worked with, among others, Douwe Bob, Bertolf, Tangarine, Jenny Arean, the Netherlands Wind Ensemble, the Metropole Orchestra with Laura Mvula and the Groot Omroep Koor. She led her own projects Medan Trio and Cousin Hatfield, and started the Common Ground Festival in Zwolle together with Tibor Elferink. Nathalie is currently touring with Bertolf (Bluefinger), among others, and is working on her debut album, of which she will play a number of songs especially for this concert.
